We have twin boys. So when they had a special event in their life, I immediately designed a logo for it, to make it theirs and started planning the party around that design. When it came to party favors for their friends, my twins wanted to take their logo and have it on a short sleeve shirt…so we started to price out getting my 2-color-1 sided design priced. What I learned, nobody wanted to touch my project. I finally started to ask why? Answers I got absolutely blew my mind and I knew I could do better myself. Hubby did all the research, and we purchased a single station, 4-color screen press. I opened up an account with a shirt wholesaler, and purchased 4-dozen shirts, figuring I would mess up a whole bunch more than what I really needed. We made the shirts, the kids’ friends loved them and the rest as they say is history.
The answers I got that I couldn’t process, is that they would not quote me a price on the shirts, because it was my design. My design…isn’t that the point of custom items, to be able to create it yourself… I know copyright laws prevent the design of certain designs, and yes, I do respect them, but mine was not that…mine was a hand sketch I drew, I scanned into the computer, and vectorized it…
